Solver | Professional Paint Solutions

SUBSTRATE:- Bee Hives

Description:- Mostly constructed using timber. Very variable substrate and possibly the most difficult to achieve long term adhesion due to the extremes of movement due to moisture absorption. If well prepared and painted to exclude moisture, can provide long term life of applied coatings.

Area of Use:- Water based systems not used due to softer nature, bees tend to remove coating through natural wear and exposure to nectar and honey which can lead to destruction of inhabitants. Coatings must be allowed to fully dry and cure before being returned for use. Any residual solvent will affect possible inhabitants.

Substrate Preparation:- All surfaces must be clean, sound, dust-free and dry.  Kill any mould or fungus with SOLVER Line 4651 Sterilizing Wall Wash.  Renew unpainted surfaces affected by weathering by sanding or planing.  Use galvanized nails.  If ungalvanized nails have been used coat nail heads with SOLVER Line 4120 Zinc Phosphate Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer to prevent rusting.  Fill holes and cracks with a suitable exterior filler.  On previously painted surfaces, remove loose and flaking paint and wash down chalking surfaces.  On areas where it is not possible to completely remove these materials apply SOLVER Line 4104 Surface Conditioner and leave to dry for 48 hours.  All Gloss surfaces should be dulled completely by sanding, then wiped clean with a damp cloth.  Spot prime bare areas with SOLVER Line 4199 Pink Primer.   Refer product directions.
